Working from home has its challenges. Most of my day is spent on conference calls and Caden can't stand hearing me talk to people on the phone - he makes every effort to screech and cry until I pick him up and give my attention to him. This is somewhat challenging because the first 30 minutes of each work day is spent on a "log call" where I read 16 spreadsheets to two of my bosses so we can review what happened in each of our restaurants the night before. I think it's safe to say that each morning starts off a little rough in our household - and my bosses have sworn off children because they hear enough crying during these calls.
In exchange for making Caden suffer without my attention, I like to take him on a morning exploration before he goes down for his nap. Today was really foggy outside and the dew was still covering the grass. It felt really great to go outside with Caden and get some peace and quiet - just me and him and the cool, morning air. Days like today make me eternally grateful to be able to work from home and balance my responsibilities.
