It's time for another house update! And guess what?! We'll be moving in before the end of April! I am really excited. Like really, really. Can't contain myself. And oddly, I feel totally unprepared! These next few weeks will be spent finalizing paint colors for the walls, refinishing the floors and making the main bathroom operable. Eeeeeee!!!!
^^ I updated the front yard with some more plants and a few potted arrangements. We also seeded the dirt in an attempt to grow a temporary lawn... the mud was getting old :-/ And once we move in, we'll be saying sayonara to those ancient windows! We got new ones (which you can see resting against the living room wall below).
^^ Walls are all moved and coated (you can see the final coat of mud still drying along the corner seams). Even though the living room is just slight bigger than the way it started, it feels like a HUGE difference. I'm really excited to see how the refinished floors make this room come alive :) And let's not forget that fireplace - we have to grind it down a bit before painting the whole thing white. Nick and my dad are brainstorming some crazy ways to alter it, but I think we'll keep it simple and add a live-edge mantle.
^^ The kitchen cabinet faces will get made and installed after we move in. And we also have a chandelier to hang over the dining space. Still trying to figure out what to use for a table... the space is long and narrow. I'm leaning toward THIS at Amber Interiors.
^^ This is an angle where it truly is amazing to see the difference in real life. The right side of the before picture shows the walls that used to enclose the kitchen. The left side shows the wall that used to butt up against the fireplace. Both have since been knocked down, giving a focus to the fireplace.
^^ We recently removed the window from the laundry room. The space is darker now but it'll give us a spot to build in a linen closet. We've tried to be thoughtful about sacrifices (like removing windows and making rooms smaller) in order to make the overall house more useful.
^^ No major updates this month for the master bedroom, other than finalizing the smooth coat on the walls. I still get excited every time I see those French doors though!
^^ The progress in the bathroom is that we picked floor tile! Hasn't been installed yet, but hopefully soon. We were given 8 of the 11 tiles from my dad's job site which is a blessing and a curse. The three tiles I had to buy set me back $350. Yes, for only 3 tiles. Oy! But I love it and can't wait to show you once it's in :)
^^ AAAAAAND now for my favorite update this month! We decided to move Caden's windows to the West wall of the house to make his space brighter. The difference is just amazing. Let. There. Be. Light!
^^ Excuse the messy floors but Viv also got her window replaced. Her room is sanded and ready for paint now. I still can't believe I'm able to say those words... ready for paint. Wow! Then the floors get done. AND THEN WE MOVE IN! HOORAY!
