Today was Caden's first 4th of July! We started the day with breakfast at Pipes Cafe. Kelly and Billy Conrad joined us and we had a really good time. After we ate, we headed down to Rivi and hung out all afternoon. Caden was determined to stay awake and play in the sand (I would come to regret this later on). Debbie, Nicki and Alicia all met us down there and hung out too!
After the beach, a very cranky Caden took a long afternoon nap while Nick and I cleaned the house and got ready for our guests. We setup a really great variety of cheeses, fruit, hummus and charcuterie. My parents, Debbie, Nicki, John & Nilda all came over to celebrate with us. We barbequed shark that my dad caught on Saturday and had corn on the cob, baked beans and homemade pasta salad. It was the perfect family barbeque!!
After everyone left, Nick and I put the baby to sleep and setup chairs in our backyard. We were ablt to see the Dana Point and Ritz Carlton fireworks shows from our spot - so nice not to deal with traffic!! After the shows were over, we came inside and watched the New York fireworks on TV. I had never seen the show before and it was truly amazing! It was an hour worth of beautiful fireworks that were choreographed to patriotic music and completely synchronized from 6 barges on the Hudson River :)
