I took the kids to Disneyland on Friday night with Kiki. It was raining and the wind gusts were pretty intense, but the kids had a blast! We started the trip with a giant cupcake (note to self: not a good game plan). Caden was bouncing off the walls like a mad man but we managed to get in a few rides and the kids explored Toon Town for a while. Vivienne almost lost her mind when we went to Cars Land and she recognized everything from the movie... very cute! And we loved seeing all of the holiday decor this time of year - so much fun!
Then on Saturday, my mother in law took the kids so we could work on the new house. True to form, one thing led to another and we spent an entire day working on projects we hadn't anticipated. Project 1 was recessed lighting. I am happy to say that I can wire and install recessed lighting on my own thanks to helping my dad install ten of them. Only 18 more to go :-/ It did delay our wall patching project though, so we have some catching up to do with that. Another unforeseen project was root excavation. My father in law spent much of Sunday trying to finish the installation of our front path, and then he hit the mother of all tree roots. The thing was easily 2 feet in diameter! While that was going on, my mom was transplanting a huge clivia into our backyard and starting on the hanging baskets for our back porch. I can't wait to see the clivia bloom next spring. At this rate, we're going to have one hell of a house... and we might even be able to move in before 2014 haha :)
